Andrew Morgan – Director
Andrew Morgan is a founding directors of SFM Forest Products (SFM). He has over 10 years of forestry and environmental management experience in Tasmania and Australia. Andrew is a Director of the Forest Industry Association of Tasmania and sits on the Forest and Wood Products Australia, Sustainability and Resources Advisory Group. Andrew has overseen the implementation of SFM’s Forest Stewardship Council and Australian Forestry Standard certification. He has a focus on the continual development of SFM as a leading forest asset manager in Australia providing for both traditional forest products and emerging markets in carbon and biodiversity.
David Wise – Director
David Wise, completed an Advanced Diploma of Applied Science from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and ran a beef and sheep farming operation in the Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania which quickly diversified into plantation hardwood production and native forest harvesting. David then returned to University in 1999 and gained a Bachelor of Economics with a Finance major from the Hobart campus of the University of Tasmania.David sits on the board of a Tasmanian retail chain and has gained a broad background of experience in developing and running small to medium enterprises. David’s role in SFM focuses on the financial and strategic management of the organisation.
Darryn Crook – Business Development Manager
Darryn is currently based in Lismore servicing NSW and Queensland and has 13 years of experience in the forest industry specialising in harvesting of native forest and plantation timber. Darryn’s experience includes native and plantation forest harvesting logistics, forest planning, estate planning, inventory, roading, fire management, Environmental and Safety Systems, Forest Management Information systems (Geomaster) and third party land management. Darryn has a high level of understanding of the forest industry in Tasmania, NSW and Queensland.
Ann LaSala – Sustainability & Systems Manager
Ann is responsible for all aspects of forest certification including liaison with certification bodies, and has developed the company systems required to demonstrate compliance with the various standards. She has 20 years’ experience working in various aspects of the forest industry in Tasmania, and has oversight responsibility for forest planning and regulatory compliance matters for the company within the Tasmanian Forest Practices System.
Brett Stevenson – Forest Operations Manager
Brett has over 25 years of experience in the forest sector having worked for Australian Newsprint Mills, North Forest Products and Gunns. He has a wide range of forest management experience including cable harvesting, road design, wood procurement and wood supply logistics. In recent times he has developed new softwood export market and currently manages timber acquisition, harvesting and wood supply across industrial and private forest estates.
Dan Ryan – Forest Operations Manager
Dan is a Forest Operations Manager for SFM in Tasmania, with a BSc (Forestry) and BEc (Economics) from the Australian National University. He has 14 years of experience in the forest industry, the majority of which has been in the private sector. He is currently responsible for timber acquisition, landowner negotiations, contractor supervision and sales for both hardwood and softwood properties.
Heath Blair – Forest Operations Manager
Heath has 18 years experience in the forest Industry in Tasmania and Australia. He is a well respected resource manager with a high level of experience in marketing and harvesting industrial sized plantations and native forest estates down to small individual landholdings. Heath has a wide range of experience, from establishing new forests through to large scale Industrial processing of forest resource. He is a Forest Practices Officer (planning) under the Forest Practices Act of Tasmania.
