Hydrowood – Expressions of Interest

Hydrowood is an innovative project that will recover submerged timber from the dams of the West coast of Tasmania. With harvesting activities set to begin in June 2015 we are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals for the following roles.

Hydrowood Operations Supervisor

This person will have experience in leading small specialist teams in remote areas undertaking commercial marine operations. The supervisor will concurrently oversee the daily operations whilst operating the purpose built vessels and machinery. The successful applicant will be responsible for achieving production targets, a safe working environment and asset maintenance.

In addition the successful applicant will have:

  • NSCV Master <24m (Master 5);
  • NSCV Marine Engine Driver 3 (MED 3);
  • Proven skills in fault finding and fixing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in remote locations;
  • Marine experience towing/pushing barges;
  • Excavator\Fellerbuncher license (Preferable); and
  • ROV or underwater machine operations experience (Preferable).

Hydrowood Marketing and Sales Manager

This person will develop the Hydrowood brand by implementing marketing activities and undertaking the direct sales function. The successful applicant will have established networks in the timber processing, distribution and architectural sectors and will drive sales opportunities with these supply chain partners. This person will liaise directly with the Hydrowood management and operational staff to align production with market requirements.

In addition the successful applicant will have:

  • A demonstrated track record of distributing timber products across a range of markets;
  • The ability to understand and influence complex supply chains;
  • Experience in recognising business development opportunities and negotiating distribution agreements;
  • A thorough knowledge of high-end timber design and application; and
  • Knowledge and experience of Tasmanian specialty species timbers, their characteristics and applications (Preferable).
