For brief periods each September and November, Forest Practices Officers have the opportunity to observe wedge-tailed eagles’ nests during the breeding season. The objective of these “activity checks” is to determine whether or not the nest is being used by the eagles to raise young in that year. SFM recently completed an activity check on a nest reserved within one of their active operations, and were pleased to see that for the second year in a row, the eagles have again taken up residence.
