Rendelsham Primary Pine

​SFM Asset Management recently had the pleasure of harvesting and marketing a pine plantation owned by the Rendelsham Primary School, located in South Australia. Of course, helping the school recover as much value as possible from their plantation was an important goal, however the SFM team were also able to collaborate with Merrett Logging to turn the job into an educational experience for the school children.

Teachers, students and interested community members were addressed by SFM in the classroom to discuss the benefits of plantation forestry and the wonderful career opportunities it can provide, before donning Hi-Vis vests and walking down to the operation. Once onsite, the children were treated to a display of tree-falling and truck loading (from a safe distance) before getting up close to the parked machinery. Dean, the harvester operator for Merrett Logging, was inundated with requests for autographs after explaining to the kids what it takes to operate such an expensive and large piece of machinery. Looks like we’ve secured the next generation of operators!
